About Us
Located in the Green Mountains of Vermont,
the Vermont Ukulele Company uses only local,
green-harvested, sustainable tone-woods.
Maple, Cherry and Walnut are the main
kinds of we are currently specializing in.
I search through the woodpiles of the local suppliers
and personally choose the woods I feel are up to
the high standards I expect the best ukuleles to have.
I use hand tools whenever possible, minimizing
the micro-fractures that occur when vibrating
machinery interacts with delicate, thin wood.
I use old-fashioned oils, varnishes and waxes,
avoiding modern chemicals and relying instead
on hand-rubbed, multiple applications of finish.
Basically, I try my very best to make
a ukulele the same way that the best
ones were made a hundred years ago.
